In Aztec Century, following the redemption of Hernan Cortez, the Aztecs managed to become a world superpower at the end of the 20th century. The only ennemies remaining are the Sioux, Russia and England, in which our main character comes from. Will the Feathered Serpent unite the planet? That is the question.
Despite having a very original idea, and being well written, I did not like really like it. The problem for me was that the intrigue was too predictable, the Aztecs are so strong I mean. They anticipate everything, know everything, manipulate everything. Yes, there were some parts of mysteries at the beginning: the prince Extepan, his ennemy Maxilla, the whole plot with Alex the robot, the man from Wales (I don't remember his name) ... but it really get to nothing. When I closed the book, it seems for me that the ending did not match the whole story. Too fast, too quick. The very ending was even disappointing to me.
But well done inventing the whole plot about the Aztecs, managing to disclose information little by little about this huge Empire and its history. Interesting to learn about this culture, traditions, names, food, culture etc.
